Zoe is the only rabbit I have at the moment that isn’t a purebred Champagne d’Argent. Her dam (mother) is Denna Girl (XG1) who is one my favorite rabbits. Her sire (father) was a Californian I had briefly named Snow Hop (LW131). I bought him mostly to see if Denna would breed with a buck besides King Dude (KD1) because she just doesn’t seem to like Dude very much and was giving me a lot of trouble. At that time, Dude was the only buck I had and someone was selling Snow Hop for a good price close by. Obviously, Denna and Snow Hop had a successful litter of 8 babies. Zoe was one of these.
Since she is only half Champagne, her coloring seems to more resemble that of a Silver Fox rabbit, but her hair texture is still the same commercial type that both Champagnes and Californians have. She will be a backup for now, just in case a purebred doe we are growing out for breeding dies.
So far her personality has been between that of her mother and father. My son and I have been working with her often to ensure that she will be used to being handled regularly, as her father was not very easily handled at all. She will be 12 weeks old soon, and we are looking forward to seeing how she grows!
