Champagne Color Change: Newborn – 3 Weeks

Champagne d’Argent rabbits are often known as the “color changing rabbit” because of the process they undergo to get their signature silver pelt. They are born completely black and grow in their silver pelt as they grow. We will be documenting this process in the coming weeks for Hart’s current babies!

Here is a reminder of how the babies looked as fresh newborns! I took this photo just a couple of hours after their birth.

Our youngest Champagnes are 3 weeks old now. They are in the cutest stage right now! As you can see they are still completely black. The next time we give an update on their color, they should have some very pretty “eyeliner” as that’s one of the places they get silver first!
